God I have so many ideas that I would turn into fanfics if I could write XD
So we already know that Starburst and Twilight have a hard time relating and we already know Anthea is a magic prodigy. It's no mystery as to why Twilight might be a sort of mentor to her. But what if Star felt like she was getting less attention from her mother than Annie?
Magic Pt. 1Across Ponyville, the entire town was mostly silent. The night sky was hovering over the town, but some pony were going around and tossing newspapers on the stoops of houses, while other ponies were still asleep in their beds. It all quickly changed though as the night sky slowly turned orange and the first beams of sunlight were popping up over the horizon. Slowly, but surely, the sun crept over the hills and mountains and soon shined upon Ponyville. Since she is not a unicorn, she feels second best to her mothers love. If Twilight's alicornhood does not promise her immortality I'm sure she would never leave her daughter's life without knowing how much she loves her. But I can imagine Star going over some life issues of her own and perhaps make her mother proud by acending to alicornhood.
Well, what about their dad? What if Starburst gets along with Flash Sentry, but Anthea does not, and she feels that she gets less attention from their dad than Starburst?

It proves that Twilight, despite being a Princess, is not exactly the perfect parent that she thinks she is and that she cares to much for her studies than her own daughter.
(Or at least that's how she's projecting it.)
